Viennese Sugar Twists
1 c. sugar
¾ c. butter
1 egg
1 egg yolk
1 t. vanilla
¼ t. salt
2 c. flour
1 c. finely ground blanched almonds
sugar
1.Cream together sugar, butter, egg and egg yolk.
2.Stir in vanilla, almond flavoring, and salt
3.Mix in flour until well blended. Dough will be stiff.
4.Break off about a tablespoon of dough; roll on lightly floured board to about 10 inches long and pencil thin (about ¼ inch).
5.Shape into a pretzel form.
6.Bake on greased baking sheet at 350 degrees F, about 10-12 minutes.
7.Sprinkle with granulated sugar.
Makes about 2 dozen.
