Graham Crackers
2 c. whole wheat flour ½ c. shortening
1 c. white flour ¾ c. light brown sugar
1 t. baking powder 1 t. vanilla
½ t. baking soda ¼ c. milk
pinch of salt
1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
2. Cream together shortening and brown sugar; add vanilla.
3. In another bowl, sift together both flours, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
4. Add flour mixture to shortening mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix well
after each addition.
5. Divide dough into thirds; roll out each portion on baking sheet to 5” x 15”
rectangle, ¼ inch thick.
6. Cut into six 2 ½” x 3” squares.
7. Prick each cracker several times with a fork.
8. Bake approximately 12 minutes.
